Last week, Keith Armstrong, local poet and historian organised a heritage event, where poems and music about the Market were shared.

Here is a photograph and a couple of links to The Sawdust Jacks, on YouTube.

‘Town within a Town’ is a song about the Grainger Market and has been featured on BBC Radio Newcastle on the Paddy MacDee Show. The Sawdust Jacks have also been invited to play at a large event in October, to commemorate the 180th Anniversary of the opening of the Market.
